The caches consisted of 5,500 pounds (2,500 kilograms) of marijuana and 3,410 pounds (1,550 kilograms) of hashish. A small portion of the drugs were confiscated as evidence and the rest were destroyed at the scene without incident.

In Maiwand district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a drug and improvised explosive device cache during a routine patrol today. The cache consisted of approximately 398 pounds (181 kilograms) of marijuana and 16 IED components. All drugs and components were confiscated and will be destroyed at a later date.
In Panjwa‘i district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered an IED cache during a routine patrol today. The cache consisted of five IEDs, various IED-making components and approximately 44 pounds (20 kilograms) of homemade explosives. All materials were confiscated and will be destroyed at a later date.
