3 hurt in southern Philippine blast

COTABATO, Philippines, April 25 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were wounded following a grenade explosion on Tuesday night in the restive southern Philippines, police said Wednesday.

The provincial police commander Cornelio Salinas said that two unknown men on board a motorbike tossed a grenade at the house of trader Gerry Gornez at 6:10 p.m. in the township of Midsayap in North Cotabato, wounding three locals identified as Nenita Benitez, 64, Amid Bruno, 15, and Asmirah Daud.

Salinas said the victims were near the steel gate of Gornez house where the grenade exploded.

Tuesday's attack came just weeks after a grenade exploded at a cockpit in nearby Aleosan town, killing three and injuring dozens.
