District crime branch chief killed in bombing

MEHTARLAM (PAN): Officials said the Daulat Shah district crime branch chief was killed in a roadside bomb blast in the eastern Laghman province on Wednesday.

The explosion happened in Olug area at about 8 am, when the crime branch chief’s vehicle hit a roadside bomb, the governor's spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Abdullah was killed and a school headmaster injured in the incident, he said, adding that the wounded was taken to the provincial civil hospital.

Public Health Ddirector Dr. Abdul Latif Qayyumi confirmed receiving the injured man and said his condition was stable.

As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the bomb attack and said Abdullah was killed and two of his guards were wounded.
