R.I.P. - Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe

DOD Identifies Marine Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

            Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe, 25, Providence, R.I., died April 12 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

He was a decorated Marine, according 1st Lt. Timothy Irish, a spokesman for the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune. 
"This Marine joined the Marine Corps in June, 2009, and was promoted to the rank of Lance Cpl. in August, 2010.  Most recently he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and his awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the NATO Medal ISAF Afghanistan," said Lt. Irish.
