10 people killed in Bajaur Blast, TTP deny involvement in the blast

Peshawar :  At least 10 people were killed and 23 injured when a car bomb exploded in the Pashat market of Salarzai area in Bajaur Agency on Thursday.

The injured were rushed to Agency Head Quarter Hosptial  Khar  for treatment. Hospital sources said condition of four of the injured is serious and they have been shifted to Peshawar for further treatment.

The Political administration said the blast occurred in Market at Pashat Bazar at the time when huge numbers of people were busy in shopping. The market is said to be owned by Shahabuddin  Khan, a former ANP leader who later joined PML-N. The market is situated in  Salarzai area of Bajaur.

An eyewitness said that the blast was so powerful which destroyed  five of the shops in the market. Following the blast the local people started rescue work and shifted the injured to Agency Head Quarter Hospital Khar.

The injured were identified as Lais Khan , Nizamuddin, Asfandiar,  Waheedullah, Reshma and Hina. Political Agent Bajaur Abdul Jabbar reached Khar Hospital and directed the hospital administration to provide every possible medical help to the injured. He also distributed Rs 10 thousands in injured and announced Rs 20 for each of the injured.

Medical Superintendent of Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar Mohammad Riaz told PPI that  around 30 people had been brought to the hospital which included 8 dead bodies. He said killed included two children.

The official said that there was a possibility that the number of casualties might rise.  They are all civilians and there is no security officer there.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast. TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan said that TTP had no link with the blast as Taliban never support killing civilians through blasts at public places.
