Afghan kids arrested for transporting explosives in Kandahar

NATO officials in Afghanistan on announced Afghan police forces detained two Afghan kids and Afghan teenager who were transporting improvised explosive devices in southern Afghanistan.

International Security Assistance Force following a statement said the Afghan kids were transporting several hand made explosive devices along with explosives in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman Jawid Faisal confirming the report on Saturday said the detained Afghan kids and teeanger were 8, 12 and 17 years old.

Mr. Jawid further added the three Afghan kids and teenager were arrested in Zherai district of southern Kandahar province while they were transporting hand made remote controlled explosive devices.

He also said the three kids and teeanger boys were looking to explode an Afghan police check post in this province.

According to Jawi Faisal the fathers of the three Afghan boys will be summoned by Afghan police forces and will be decided whether the boys will be released or they will be introduced to attorney general.

This comes as United Nations International Children Education Fund (UNICEF) expressed concerns regarding the children who are being used by militants for war purposes.

A spokesman for UNICEF in Afghanistan Aziz Frotan said at least 1750 Afghan kids were killed or injured in Afghan war during 2011.
