Nigeria: Gunmen Kill Three Police Men in Bauchi

Three police men in Bauchi State, yesterday, met their premature death when unknown gunmen opened fire on them at a patrol post on Bauchi Gombe road.

The gunmen who were said to have attacked the policemen around 8:49 am also carted away the three guns belonging to them.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the victims were two inspectors and a corporal who were just deployed to the patrol centre.

According to sources, there were four police men on patrol but one of them managed to escape into the bush when the attackers opened fire on them.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO] of the Bauchi state command, ASP Muhammad Auyo, said that investigation into the incident has commenced.

He revealed that a team of well armed policemen had already been dispatched to the scene of the attack to search for the hoodlums and expressed optimism that the gunmen would be fished out, apprehended and brought to justice.
