Car bombing kills 3, injures 11 in Iraqi capital

BAGHDAD, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and 11 others injured when a car bomb exploded on Thursday evening at a popular market in the Iraqi capital Baghdad's northeastern part, the local police said.

The attack took place in Husseiniya area in northeastern Baghdad.

The police source, on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that angry locals near the bombing site burned two police vehicles and clashed with police personnel with bare hands, protesting against the failure of the authorities to protect people.

Security forces sealed off the area and the situation is under control, said the source.

Iraq has seen an increase of violence during this year's holy month of Ramada and Baghdad residents are getting furious about the continued attacks.
