Suicide Bomber Targets Pakistani Police Station

PESHAWAR: A suicide bomber on Tuesday rammed his explosive-laden car into a checkpoint outside a police station in Bannu, wounding six people, police said.
“Four policemen and two civilians were wounded after a suicide bomber blew up his car at the checkpoint,” senior police official Nisar Ahmad Tanoli told AFP.

The blast damaged the outer wall of the police station and two houses near the checkpoint, he said.

Taliban militants immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

“We carried out the suicide attack on the police station… we will not spare them and target them again,” Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told AFP on phone from an unknown location.

“We will continue to target police and security forces because they are killing our mujahideen (fighters),” he added.

5 killed, 9 injured following blast in Uruzgan province

According to local authorities in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan at least 14 Afghan civilians were killed or injured following an explosion in in this province.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon killing at least 3 Afghan civilians and two Afghan security forces while.

Provincial security spokesman Farid Ayel confirming the report said a woman and child was also among those killed following the blast which took place near the Afghan intelligence department in Tarinkowt city.

Uruzgan is is among the volaltile regions in southern Afghanistan where Taliban militants and other insurgents groups are openly operating in various districts.

Militants are frequently using improvised explosive device to target Afghan and coalition security forces but in majority of cases Afghan civilians are suffering from such bombings.

At least 10 Afghan civilians were killed after their vehicle struck with the roadside bomb in Dehrawood district.

In the meantime local security officials said they have launched an operation to clear the area from the militants activities and unconfirmed reports suggest at least 61 militants have been killed during the operations.

Farid Ayel spokesman for the provincial security commandment said the incident on Monday took place after explosives packed in a motorcycle went off in the area.

He said preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion took place as a result of a remote controlled bomb.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Dec. 04., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a local Taliban leader during a security operation in Maiwand district, Kandahar province, today.

The leader controlled a group of insurgents operating in the district and facilitated the acquisition and distribution of ammunition and weapons to fighters in the area. He also oversaw improvised explosive device and suicide attacks in Maiwand.

The security force also detained three suspected insurgents as a result of the operation.

South

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a local Taliban leader in Nad ‘Ali district, Helmand province, today. The leader was directly responsible for the emplacement of improvised explosive devices and numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in the district.

Yesterday, during an operation in Chahar Burjak district, Nimroz province, an Afghan and coalition security force discovered a drug cache. The cache contained 2290kg (5,049 pounds of dry opium, 250 kg (551 pounds) of wet opium and 50 kg (110 pounds) of heroin. The combined force destroyed the drugs on site.

An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in Kajaki district, Helmand province, Sunday that resulted in the death of several insurgents. During the operation, the combined force also seized 250 kg (551 pounds) of opium, and a large quantity of drug making equipment. The combined force destroyed all the drugs and drug-related equipment on site.

In Shahid-e-Hasa district, Uruzgan province, Sunday, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation that resulted in the death of several insurgents including Qayum, a local Taliban leader responsible for planning attacks against Afghan and coalition troops in the area. During the operation the combined force also detained multiple suspected insurgents.

On Sunday, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in Tarin Kowt district, Uruzgan province that resulted in the death of Maulawi Tayeb, a local Taliban leader. Tayeb planned and conducted attacks against Afghan government officials and was directly involved in numerous improvised explosive attacks in the region.

East

An Afghan and coalition security force conducted a security operation in Musa Khel district, Khost province, today that resulted in the arrest of a Haqqani leader who conducted attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and supplied Haqqani insurgents with weapons and ammunition. During the operation, the security force also detained two suspected insurgents and seized weapons and ammunition.

In Chak-e Wardak district, Wardak province, today, an Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents during an operation in search of a Taliban leader who oversees a local group of insurgents and has conducted numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. During the operation, the combined force killed two insurgents and seized weapons, ammunition and several grenades.

Dec. 04., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces detained six insurgents and cleared four improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Dec. 3.

Khowst province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Terezayi district.

Logar province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained two insurgents during an engagement in Barak district. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Nangarhar province
Afghan Uniformed Police found and safely cleared one IED in Achin district. Afghan National Security Forces detained four insurgents during an engagement in Bati Kot district. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Paktika province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Bermal district.

Paktya province
Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Sayid Karim district.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
