PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Suicide bombers stormed the Baraki Barak district headquarters in central Logar province on Sunday, injuring a policeman, an official said.

As the bombers tried to enter building at 12 noon, police intercepted them, the town’s administrative head, Eng. Mohammad Rahim Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said one of the attackers detonated his explosive vest at entrance to the district headquarters, injuring a policeman. The second bomber managed to flee after a brief gunbattle with police.

An explosives-laden car and a Mazda truck were seized near the headquarters during subsequent operations by Afghan and foreign troops, Amin said.

Earlier in the day, one member of the Public Order Police was killed and two others were wounded in a car bombing at a checkpoint in the Juma Qala area on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.

Logar police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Saboor Nasrati, said one policeman was killed and two others were injured in the blast that shattered windowpanes in nearby houses.
