In Several Joint Clearance Operations, 14 Armed Taliban Killed

Counterterrorism:

In past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several joint clearance operations with the cooperation of Afghan National Army, NDS and Coalition Forces to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan.


The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Laghman, Badakhshan, Kandahar and Helmand provinces, as a result 14 armed Taliban were killed, four wounded and four other armed Taliban were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces.                                                                                  

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated some amount of light and heavy round ammunitions and IEDs.

During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused three different types of mines placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Zabul and Daikundi provinces.

Counter Crimes:

The 101 Kabul Zone National Police detained two suspects accused of theft in the 5th and 11th Districts of Kabul-City.

Mar. 30., 2013. - ISAF Joint Command Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani leader during an operation in Sabari district, Khost province, March 30.

The leader is accused of obtaining improvised explosive devices and various other weapons and distributing them to multiple insurgent commanders. He has also allegedly led a number of fighters in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

During an operation in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province March 30, an Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader with significant experience constructing IEDs, and detained one other insurgent. The leader is believed to be responsible for multiple insurgent operations, including IED attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout northern Kandahar.

An Afghan and coalition security force detained several insurgents during an operation in search of a senior Taliban leader in Nad 'Ali district, Helmand province, March 30. The leader was allegedly plotting a campaign of sustained military attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Helmand province. He and his subordinates are believed to have participated in a number of recent attacks utilizing IEDs and small arms fire against Afghan and coalition forces. The security force also seized a pistol, bomb-making materials and narcotics as a result of the operation.

Mar. 30., 2013. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and Coalition Forces found and safely cleared nine improvised explosive devices and detained two suspected insurgents during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, March 29.

Ghanzi province
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared two IEDs during operations in the Gelan district.

Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Qarah Bagh district.

Afghan National Security Forces detained one suspected insurgent during operations in the Qarah Bagh district. The suspected insurgent was transferred to a base for questioning.
